A World in Songs
Overview of The Initiative
“A World in Songs”is an original initiative by JJL Studio (Riga, Latvia) with the aim of using music as an educational tool for children under the age of ten as well as for children with special needs.
Through song lyrics and melodies, the initiative encourages people to discover the world – from geography and nature to history, foreign languages and more.
As part of this initiative, JJL Studio officially cooperates with schools in Latvia, non-governmental organizations working for children, as well as with partners from abroad. They are working on several projects to create a musically interactive, inclusive educational material to be made available to educational institutions in Latvia and elsewhere in Europe.

First Round of The Initiative
Where there’s songs you can go rest…
Goal of The First Round
In the first round of the initiative, JJL Studio had created the "Musical Geography Atlas for Kids"12 original songs (music from Jānis Lūsēns, lyrics by Loreta Kalniņa), which were published as scores with audio CD. Special education institutions in Latvia received free copies of the atlas.
The scores will allow children to learn and perform on their own any song dedicated to a particular country in the world.
The texts are written both in Latvian and in the language spoken in this country, so the children can learn geography and foreign languages in an interactive way.

Second Round of The Initiative
What's The Goal of The Second Round?
In the second round of the initiative, the JJL studio has begun work on the "Music Atlas of Northern Europe for Children"- in Latvian and Norwegian, with new songs and performers.
This atlas is published in the form of scores with CD. In addition, the songs included in the atlas will be performed in concerts in cooperation with special education institutions, where both well-known artists and children will perform. The performance is provided free of charge to children with special needs and children from low-income households.
The performance will also be filmed and the footage will be made available to users in Latvia.
The project "Music Atlas of Northern Europe for Children" is carried out in three phases:
- Creation of original songs and publication of scores with music recording and production
- Concert performance of the songs included in the Atlas
- Video recording and digital availability of the concert performance
